Food Friends - Canterbury District
Verified service

Do you know someone who could benefit from a delicious home cooked meal delivered with company and conversation?
We know that the small gesture of a home cooked meal, and a friendly smile, can make the world of difference to someone who is feeling disconnected.

If you know someone who would like to be matched with one of our amazing volunteer cooks, or you would like to refer yourself, we would love to hear from you.

What is Food Friends?

At Food Friends, we're all about tackling loneliness and isolation through the power of food and friendship.

Our meal-sharing initiative connects volunteers – who have a little extra to give – with neighbours who would benefit from a delicious home-cooked meal, delivered with a side of company and conversation.

The service is completely free of charge.

Most of our volunteers aim to share a meal about once a week, but this can vary – sometimes they’re away, unwell, or simply unable to cook that week. It’s a flexible, friendly arrangement.

When referring someone please keep in mind:

Food Friends is not a crisis or emergency service.

Our initiative is volunteer-led and involves lone working, so it’s really important that those referred are suitable for this type of support. We want the experience to be positive and safe – both for the person you’re referring and for our amazing volunteers.

If you’ve visited the person at home or are aware of any potential risks, please do let us know in the relevant section of the referral form.

If you need a hand completing the form, just give us a ring on 01227 250 410 or email us at hello@food-friends.co.uk

We’re happy to help!
