Food Friends is a community initiative that connects people who love to cook with neighbours who would appreciate a delicious home-cooked meal, delivered with company and conversation. Our mission is to combat loneliness and isolation in communities through food and friendship.
We match volunteer cooks with local people who would benefit from a friendly chat and a shared meal. Most volunteers share an extra portion of their home-cooked food once a week, but the role is flexible—deliveries can be more or less frequent to suit your schedule.
- Reduce loneliness and isolation by building meaningful connections in your community.
- Combat food waste by sharing surplus meals with those who need them.
- Flexible volunteering for people with busy lives—make a difference on your own terms.
- All ages welcome: Our youngest cook is 14, and our eldest Food Friend is 99!
- Support and guidance provided to help you get started and throughout your food friendship journey.
We hold celebration lunches throughout the year to bring our Food Friends community together and celebrate new and lasting friendships.
If you know someone who could benefit from a home-cooked meal and company, or if you’d like to volunteer, get in touch today!
The volunteering role is for those over the age of 18. If interested in volunteering and under this age, you must be supported by someone 18+ at all times.
