Age UK Cambridgeshire and Peterborough (CAP) is dedicated to helping everyone make the most of later life. We offer a range of services designed to support carers of older people, helping you feel confident, connected, and supported in your caring role.
Our services include:
- Information and Advice: Telephone support to help alleviate worry and anxiety, make informed decisions, and guide you to appropriate services.
- Girton Older Residents' Co-ordinator: Assistance with forms and applications (including welfare benefits, blue badges, and grants), information about and referrals to social groups and leisure activities, and help accessing a variety of services.
- Community Wardens: Daily contact (Monday to Friday) to check on well-being and help with small errands such as shopping, making phone calls, dealing with post, making medical appointments, travel arrangements, posting items, watering plants, or linking to other services. Carers are welcome to access this support.
- Handyperson Service: Practical solutions to help people remain safe and independent at home, including falls prevention, general DIY, home energy checks, and adaptations such as grabrails and stair banisters.
- Sharing Time: Free home visits to reduce isolation and loneliness, offering one-to-one companionship and friendship, a listening ear, and opportunities to share hobbies and interests.
Carers can also benefit from respite when their older loved one participates in one of our social opportunities.
