Thanet Safe Haven

Thanet Safe Haven offers free, welcoming, and non-judgmental mental health support for anyone aged 18 and over in the Kent area. If you are feeling distressed, overwhelmed, or in crisis, our service is here for you—no referral needed.

How we help:

  • Walk-in support at our comfortable, non-clinical environment (sometimes called a 'crisis cafe').
  • One-to-one emotional support from trained mental health professionals.
  • Help with creating staying well and crisis plans.
  • Support to access other useful services and organisations.
  • Information and emotional support if you are in crisis or feel you are heading towards a crisis situation.
  • 24/7 helpline for emotional support and information, even when the Haven is closed.

Flexible access: You can choose to receive support face-to-face, by phone, email, or video consultation. Calls and emails are answered during opening hours, and messages left outside these times will be responded to as soon as possible.

We work closely with: GPs, Community Mental Health Teams, Crisis Teams, A&E Mental Health Liaison Teams, Police, Ambulance Services, Street Triage, and other front-line professionals to ensure you have a safe, supportive place to go.

Opening hours: Monday to Sunday, 24 hours.

Who can use this service? Anyone aged 18+ in Kent. No formal referral required.

Please note: The Haven is not suitable for urgent medical attention (e.g., after self-harm). For urgent medical care, please attend your nearest A&E or call 999.
