The Bobby Scheme is a trusted, independent charity service dedicated to making homes safer for older, vulnerable, and disabled people across Cambridgeshire and Peterborough. Since 2001, we have helped secure over 34,000 homes, reducing crime and the fear of crime, and empowering residents to live independently for longer.
Our skilled staff, all retired police officers, visit your home by appointment, wearing uniform and clear identification. They assess your property, offer expert advice, and install essential security measures such as locks, door chains, bolts, and window alarms. We also fit smoke alarms, carbon monoxide monitors, and heat detectors, and can refer you for a full fire safety assessment if needed.
We work in partnership with Cambridgeshire Fire & Rescue Service and Anglian Water to enhance fire safety and register residents for priority services, including support with water bills and protection against bogus callers.
