Grief and bereavement - Sign Health

SignHealth’s Psychological Therapy Service offers specialist grief and bereavement counselling for Deaf people, delivered by therapists experienced in supporting those who have experienced loss.

We understand that talking about your feelings with someone outside your family or friends can help you process your grief. Our therapists provide a safe, confidential space where you can share your story as many times as you need, helping you make sense of your emotions and find ways to cope.

  • Accessible for Deaf people: Our service is delivered in British Sign Language (BSL) and is designed to be fully accessible.
  • Remote support: Therapy sessions are primarily delivered via video calls, so you can access support from anywhere in England and Wales.
  • Self-referral available: You can refer yourself directly to our therapy team.
  • Support for all ages: We welcome Deaf adults seeking help with grief, bereavement, and loss.

How to access: Contact our therapy team by text, email, or phone to discuss your needs or to refer yourself. We know BSL and are happy to communicate in the way that suits you best.

Cost: Therapy may be funded by the NHS, subject to assessment. Please contact us for details about eligibility and funding.
