We work in partnership with Bucks Council to offer an integrated service to children, young people, and adults in Buckinghamshire with hearing, sight, or dual sensory loss. This service is called Buckinghamshire Integrated Sensory Service (BISS).
This is an integrated service for children, young people, and adults in Buckinghamshire with hearing, sight, or dual sensory loss.
If you live in Buckinghamshire, BISS offers a range of services to support you with your sensory loss. A holistic assessment at home is offered, which will focus on your sight, hearing, or dual sensory needs. However, other identified needs and issues will be discussed, and information and advice will be offered to meet any additional needs or personal goals.
Other services offered include:
• Registration of hearing and or sight loss
• Support to develop daily living skills
• Equipment allocation, demonstration, or advice to assist with daily living
• Mobility training and support to children and young people in school in order to encourage safe mobilisation and participation in all activities.
• Advice and information on your hearing, sight, or dual sensory loss
• Communication clubs for families of Deaf children via our partners Young Deaf Activities (YDA) and other activity groups offered by YDA for families and children/young people.
• Support to assist you in accessing activities within your local community
• Referral or signposting to other appropriate services
The BISS specialist staff team offers a wide range of experience in assessment and support for individuals with sight, hearing, and dual sensory loss.
