In 2024 Luminous Steps was funded by the National Lottery Awards to carry out counselling and support services to families and spouses in the BAME community in Barking and Dagenham who had lost their children and spouses because of death by suicide. In one of our support sessions we focused on ‘The Tree of Life’.
‘The Tree of Life’ is a strengths-based approach to identify and build upon the strengths and resources of individuals rather than concentrating on their vulnerabilities.
Our workshop for The National Lottery Open Week 2025 will provide a space and opportunities for BAME families, their spouses and individuals who have experienced bereavement by suicide, and other causes of death to talk about their personal realities and experiences in the context of recognizing their capabilities and building resilience.
On hearing about Luminous Steps project Bereavement by Suicide for the BAME community. Individuals reported to ‘Suresteps Wellbeing Services’ that all cultures are affected by suicide, therefore in showing our work this event is open to the BAME community and Allies.
Attend our event, share experiences, build a community, reduce isolation and loneliness, and rejuvenate your health and wellbeing with a gentle focus on emotional healing via a narrative, creative approach.
