Wolverhampton Home Improvement Service (WHIS)

Wolverhampton Home Improvement Agency is dedicated to helping older people, people with disabilities, and vulnerable residents live safely and independently in their own homes.

Who can use the service? Any resident in Wolverhampton who has had recommendations made by an occupational therapist for necessary and appropriate works. Additional grants and assistance may be available based on household income, age, and receipt of welfare benefits.

  • Support is available for people who own and live in their own property, rent privately, or live in housing association accommodation.
  • Council tenants can also seek support for adaptations, managed by Wolverhampton Homes.

What the service offers:

  • Grants or assistance to remove hazards from your home
  • Advice and support in adapting your home, including Disabled Facilities Grants
  • Discussion of housing options
  • Help and advice to keep you safe and secure at home
  • Signposting to other organisations, including charities, who could help you
  • Inspections after work has been carried out to ensure satisfaction
