Single Homeless Project began in 1975 when six homeless men in London teamed up to create change. They wanted to see an end to rough sleeping and a city where everyone has a safe place to live and the chance for a fulfilling life.
Whilst we have grown beyond recognition from those early days, these origins continue to shape the way we work and our vision of a society where everyone has a place to call home and the chance to live a fulfilling life.
Today, we help 12,000 Londoners in crisis every year to leave homelessness behind, to be seen, to be heard, and find a place to call home.
We help people off the streets and into emergency and longer-term accommodation.
We provide safe places to live and support people in recovering, overcoming challenges, and preparing for the future.
We work with Londoners to gain skills, improve health and well-being, and build confidence and resistance so they can move from homelessness to independence—whether that be employment, a strong social community, or their own place to call home.
And our expert teams prevent hundreds of struggling Londoners from becoming homeless in the first place.
