Reminiscence Group

We will see many major changes in Mortlake during the next few years with the development of the brewery site.

But do you remember what Mortlake was like before the last changes in the 1960s and 70s? Did you shop on the High Street, remember Wainwright and Waring perhaps, go to Mortlake Green School or did you work in the brewery when it was owned by Watneys?

If you live in or know Mortlake, then you may like to come to our Reminiscence Group.

Several local people have been coming along for many years, but it is always nice to see new faces. Over a cup of tea and biscuits, the group exchanges memories of the local area. It also has links with the Barnes and Mortlake History Society, who bring along archive photographs, old maps, newspaper cuttings, original historic documents and artefacts. There are also slide shows and quizzes about Mortlake.
