Baby Basics Hastings and Rother

Baby Basics Hastings & Rother supports expectant mothers and families with newborns (aged 0-3 months) who are struggling to meet the financial and practical needs of their new baby. As part of the nationwide Baby Basics network, our centre is staffed by a dedicated team of volunteers who are passionate about helping local families.

What we offer:

  • A Moses basket starter pack with essentials for babies aged 0-3 months
  • Toiletries for mum
  • High-quality second-hand and brand new baby items (see donation list below)

We work closely with referral agencies including midwives, health visitors, social care, and other professionals to ensure a safe and reliable service. Referrals are accepted only from professionals working with families. If you are a parent in need, please speak to your midwife, health visitor, or another professional who can refer you.

How to access the service:

  • Referrals can be made by email from Monday to Friday, 9am – 5pm
  • Collections and donations are accepted on Thursdays, 9am – 12pm at the Hastings Centre
  • Turnaround time for referrals is typically 2 weeks. For urgent cases, please email us directly

Donations: We gratefully accept brand new and high-quality second-hand baby items, including nappies, wipes, baby clothes (newborn and 0-3 months), toiletries for mum, and more. Please email us before bringing donations, as storage space is limited. Financial donations are also welcome via BACS transfer (see details above).
