Dragonflies Bereavement Project

Dragonflies Bereavement Project offers free support to children and young people aged 5-18, as well as their families, who are experiencing pre or post bereavement.

Our peer support groups provide a safe and welcoming space for children and young people to share their experiences, take part in creative therapeutic activities, and join group discussions led by trained staff and volunteers. Each group runs for 8 weekly sessions, each lasting 1 hour.

  • Support is available for families living in Hastings, Rother, Eastbourne, and all surrounding areas.
  • Over 2,500 local children and young people have been supported since 2006.
  • 98% of participants said Dragonflies activities helped them.
  • 82% of parents noticed a positive change in their child's behaviour.

What families say: "My child has been more confident with other people, goes to places on his own. He understands a lot more about feelings towards bereavement."

We also welcome volunteers to help deliver peer support sessions in centres and schools. If you are interested, please contact our Volunteer Coordinator.
