The East Sussex Floating Support Service offers short-term, flexible, and personalised support to vulnerable people aged 16+ across East Sussex who need help to live independently and maintain their housing.
Our experienced team can assist you with:
- Preventing homelessness and managing tenancy issues
- Money management and accessing benefits
- Accessing healthcare and other essential services
- Signposting to health, social care, education, training, employment, and voluntary/community services
Support is provided in your own home, via phone or video call, or at community venues, depending on your needs and preferences.
Who can use this service?
- People aged 16 and over who are vulnerable and have, or are likely to develop, care and support needs due to age, disadvantage, disability, substance misuse, or ill health
- Those experiencing accommodation risks such as having no accommodation, being at risk of losing accommodation, living in temporary or unsuitable housing, or needing support to maintain independence
- Households with dependent children at risk of, or who have received, an intentionally homeless decision (via Children’s Services)
- Residents aged 60+ can self-refer or be referred by friends/family
How to access the service:
- Referrals can be made via Health and Social Care Connect (HSCC), Children’s Services, or District and Borough Housing Teams
- Residents aged 60+ can self-refer by calling 0800 023 9380 (freephone) or emailing the team
Exclusions: The service is not available to people under 16, street homeless individuals, those not ordinarily resident in East Sussex, people housed in a refuge or supported accommodation, social housing tenants, those moving into or living in Extra Care housing, and people with Care Act eligible care and support needs who are already receiving Adult Social Care support (with some exceptions).
