Community Fridges are free, open to all, and help prevent fresh food from going to waste. Anyone can take food, including surplus from supermarkets, with no referral or registration required. These fridges are run in shared spaces and are part of a nationwide network.
Locations and Opening Times:
- Glen Parva Community Fridge: Glen Parva War Memorial Hall, Dorothy Avenue, LE2 9JD. Open weekly on Tuesdays from 2.30pm to 4pm (or earlier if food runs out).
- Kingsway North Community Fridge: Braunstone Town Family Hub, LE3 3BD. Open every Friday from 1.30pm to 3pm during term time. Jointly run by The Winstanley School and Kingsway Primary School.
- Braunstone Town Community Fridge: The Green Space, Community Outdoor Hub, Ravenhurst Road, LE3 2PS. Entrance through the school's car park opposite 26 and 28 Ravenhurst Road. Open every Tuesday between 2pm and 3pm.
How it works:

- Helps reduce food waste and supports the local community.
Volunteering: If you have a couple of hours to spare each week, you can volunteer to support fridge sessions or help collect food donations. Email VCSHub@blaby.gov.uk for Glen Parva, or office@winstanleyschool.org.uk for Kingsway North.
