Community Fridge - Woodhatch Community Centre

Struggling to afford healthy meals? Reigate & Banstead Borough Council offers a range of support to help local residents access nutritious food and essential supplies.

Food Clubs: Our Community Development team runs Food Clubs that provide members with discounted nutritious food and basic supplies. If you’re finding it difficult to afford healthy meals, you may be eligible to join. Due to high demand, new applicants may need to join a waiting list.

Community Fridges & Meals: Five community fridges across the borough offer free food (close to its sell-by date) donated by local stores to help those in need and reduce food waste. Some locations also offer community meals.

  • East Surrey Hospital Community Fridge: Open to everyone
  • Horley fridge: Horley Community Centre, Regent House, Albert Road, Horley RH6 7JA
  • Longmead Community Hub: Cromwell estate, Redhill. Monthly community meals (book in advance by calling or texting 07709 100324) and twice weekly community fridge
  • Merstham fridge: Merstham Community Hub, 2b Portland Drive, Merstham RH1 3JB
  • Woodhatch fridge: Woodhatch Community Centre, Whitebeam Drive, Reigate RH2 7LS

Food Banks: Free food and essential items for people in short-term need. Referral required from a local agency. Find out more about food banks in the borough via the council website.

Healthy Start: If you’re more than 10 weeks pregnant or have a child under 4, you may be entitled to help buying healthy food and milk through the NHS Healthy Start Scheme.

  • For community meals at Longmead, book in advance by calling or texting 07709 100324
  • Food bank access requires a referral from a local agency

All services are free or discounted for those in need.
