Cornwall Memory Cafe Network supports a network of independent, volunteer-led Memory Cafes across Cornwall and the Isles of Scilly. These cafes are dedicated to helping people living with memory loss and their carers to live well by providing welcoming, safe spaces in their communities.
What to expect at a Memory Cafe:
- A warm welcome from friendly volunteers
- Opportunities to meet new people and make friends
- Light refreshments
- Connections to other sources of information and support
- Engaging activities such as music, art-based sessions, bingo, table games, seated yoga, and more
Memory Cafes are free to attend and open to people with or without a formal dementia diagnosis (cafe dependent), as well as volunteers from the local community. Sessions typically last two hours and may be held fortnightly or monthly, depending on the individual cafe.
The network was inspired by the first Memory Cafe in Launceston, started in 2007, and has grown to offer substantial support throughout Cornwall and the Isles of Scilly. Please note that some other memory cafes in Cornwall may not be part of the network and may charge for attendance.
