Havering Music School is the specialist music service for the London Borough of Havering, inspiring children to make music from an early age and supporting their musical journey throughout their school years.
With around 80 instrumental and vocal tutors, we serve nearly all secondary schools and most primary schools in the borough. Every week, we teach more than 3,500 students, focusing on developing technical and musical skills to promote self-expression, communication, and confidence. An additional 1,500 children in 23 primary schools participate in weekly class ensemble tuition.
Instrumental lessons at our Saturday and Weekday Music Centres are open to children of any age or standard. Students come from all over Havering, as well as Redbridge, Barking, and Essex.
We nurture a close-knit community, encouraging students to strive for the highest standard of musicianship in a happy and structured environment. There are many opportunities to participate in fun events that help nurture individual talents.
As the lead organisation for the Havering Music Education Hub, we work closely with partners such as the London Symphony Orchestra, Royal Opera House, and London Chamber Orchestra. This gives students the chance to perform at major London venues and work alongside some of the country’s finest professional musicians.
Whether guiding students towards professional music careers or simply giving them a lifelong love of music, Havering Music School aims to help every student fulfil their potential.
