
What is a Green Doctor?
Part of the community charity, Groundwork London, Green Doctors are a team of expert energy advisers who arrange a one-hour phone consultation with residents on their energy use. For 15 years Green Doctors have been helping households in London save money, stay warm and improve energy efficiency at home. Working in partnership with London Boroughs and Housing Associations and different organisations to give advice on bills, provide free energy-saving measures, and refer residents to further services to improve health and well-being.
What happens during the Green Doctor consultation?
We are now offering pre-booked home visits or phone consultations. We can provide appointments with sign language interpretation (via video call) and language interpretation as well for non-English speakers.
During consultation, the Green Doctor will help residents to:
- save money on their energy bills
- switch energy provider to save money
And where they are eligible:
- access the Priority Services Register
- access the Warm Homes Discount (£ 140 payment)
- apply for grants for energy and water debt
- refer residents to other services for additional support
This service is available to households if they meet one of the following criteria:
- On a low income (£15,900 or less pa) or in receipt of any means-tested benefits; and/or:
- With a health condition (such as respiratory/ circulatory disease or mental health condition)
- People with a disability
- Older people (65 and over)
- Households with children under 5
- Pregnant and on low income
- Young person (16-25) on low income
