Tech Angels
Verified service

Tech Angels is a free digital inclusion service for people in Surrey who are at risk of digital exclusion. We provide devices, digital literacy training, and confidence-boosting support to help you get online and stay connected.

Who is it for? Our service is designed for Disabled people, those with long-term health conditions, people with mental ill-health, carers, older people, and people from Black and minoritised ethnic groups. If you feel isolated or struggle to access digital technology, we are here to help.

  • Device Loan: We lend you a device (tablet, smartphone, or smart home speaker) for 6 months, with the option to extend.
  • Personal Support: You’ll be matched with a volunteer Tech Angel who will support you in learning new digital skills, at your own pace.
  • Social Connection: Join our virtual social groups or the Virtual Wellbeing Hub to meet others and reduce loneliness.
  • Volunteer Opportunities: You can also become a virtual volunteer and help others get connected.

What can you learn? Our Tech Angels can help you with video calling family, online banking, shopping, accessing medical services, enjoying music and films, and more. We also provide devices with SIM cards or MiFi hotspots if you don’t have WiFi at home.

Cost: This service is completely free.

How to access: Referrals are welcome from GPs, health and care professionals, social workers, voluntary organisations, and the general public. You can self-refer using our online form, or contact us for assistance.

Availability: Please note, due to funding restrictions, we cannot currently offer the service in Elmbridge, Spelthorne, Runnymede, Surrey Heath, Guildford, and Waverley. If you live in these areas, please contact the Digital Support Volunteer service via Surrey County Council.

Real stories: Hear from Tech Members like Yolanda, Elena, and Aisha, who have gained confidence, independence, and new connections through our service.
