NHS Sheffield Talking Therapies offers a range of evidence-based talking therapies to help adults manage and overcome common mental health difficulties such as stress, anxiety, and depression.
Our team includes Psychological Wellbeing Practitioners, Cognitive Behavioural Psychotherapists, and Counsellors who will work with you to find the most suitable therapy for your needs. You will first have an assessment with one of our practitioners to discuss your situation and explore the best options for you.
- Psychological Wellbeing Practitioners (PWPs): Provide up to six sessions of guided self-help, focusing on setting realistic goals, problem-solving, and learning techniques to manage stress, anxiety, and depression. Sessions last up to 30 minutes and include progress monitoring.
- Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT): Helps you understand the connection between your thoughts, feelings, and behaviours. Together with your therapist, you will set goals and learn practical tools to make positive changes and improve your wellbeing. Active participation and practice between sessions are encouraged.
- Counselling for Depression: Offers specific, evidence-based counselling therapies for individuals and couples experiencing depression, often related to life events such as loss, change, or relationship difficulties. Counselling provides a safe space to reflect on and validate your feelings and experiences.
