About Radnage WI
If the WI’s main aims are to educate and enlighten, as well as to entertain, Radnage WI has certainly fulfilled its brief over the past year!
We have rolled our sleeves up, baked and cooked, manned the tables, set up and packed away, but have also been entertained, informed, educated and above all laughed and enjoyed one another’s company in the time honoured way that Radnage WI have done for almost 90 years.
Each WI can be very different so do come along and visit us. We meet on the first Wednesday of every month (except January) in the Village Hall at 7.15pm for a 7.30pm start. We recommend you contact us to arrange a visit, that way we’ll know to expect you and can make sure you’re welcomed – please contact Jane Wass on 01494 482046 or send an email to us at radnage.wi@outlook.com. We look forward to hearing from you.
We enjoy the social side of meeting other ladies – we’re certainly not all ‘jam and Jerusalem’. Our members range in ages from 37 to 90+ years and our interests grow more diverse as membership increases.
About the WI
The Women’s Institute (WI) was formed in 1915 to revitalise rural communities and encourage women to become more involved in producing food during the First World War. Since then the organisation’s aims have broadened and the WI is now the largest voluntary women’s organisation in the UK. The WI celebrated its centenary in 2015 and currently has 212,000 members in around 6,600 WIs.
The WI plays a unique role in providing women with educational opportunities and the chance to build new skills, to take part in a wide variety of activities and to campaign on issues that matter to them and their communities.
