futureCoders helps people who face a variety of barriers to the transition from education into work in a digital role, despite having valuable skills that are needed by the economy.
Through our project-based work experience, our participants grow in confidence and level of skill and move closer to applying for their first digital roles. They embark on a learning programme, are given meaningful tasks for the project, learn about the client and their work, learn about how to showcase their skills and to find and apply for entry level roles.
Our projects include app and data solution development for small not-for-profit organisations, examples of which are:
- an app which helps neuro diverse users to experience new situations (health appointments, schools, new activities, etc) through video, to help to reduce anxiety.
- an app that displays notices about available services (wellbeing, health, housing, etc) for residents of a housing association
- a conversational app helping artists to engage with their audience
- a volunteer task management app
We work with the organisations to find funding, co-create the app and maintain it going forward.
Referrals would be welcome from anyone over the age of 16, who has a real interest in computer coding, and has done some learning, but lacks the confidence, support or personal network to get into a job role where these skills are needed.
