About the Service
The Listening Lounge offers a safe, welcoming space for individuals experiencing emotional distress or nearing crisis.
Based in local community hubs, this out of hours service operates during Friday evenings and weekends, including Saturday evenings and bank holidays, with an additional session on Mondays 10 to 2 pm. It provides timely, compassionate support as an alternative to attending A&E or waiting for GP appointments.
What to expect
When you arrive, you’ll be welcomed by trained staff who will carry out a brief assessment to ensure that our service is the right fit for your needs.
If appropriate, we will offer support which may include:
- A calm, safe environment to talk
- one to one support from trained staff
- signposting or referrals to other appropriate services
- support in developing coping strategies
- If we believe another service would be more suitable, we’ll help you access the right support
Please note
This is not a clinical or emergency service. If you or someone else is in immediate danger, please call 999 or go directly to your nearest emergency service.
