The Line - wellbeing walks

What is The Line?
The Line is London’s first dedicated public art walk and features a wealth of wildlife and extraordinary local history. The route runs between Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park in Stratford and The O2 in Greenwich, following the waterways and the line of the Greenwich Meridian. It is a place where everyone can explore art, nature, and heritage for free.

 

One Step at a Time
‘One Step at a Time’ is a 4-week programme of walks for people experiencing a wide range of health issues including those with feelings of anxiety and social isolation, those wishing to get more active and get out of the house.

The guided walks are:

  • Once a week for 4 weeks (with the opportunity to sign up again for another 4 weeks) 
  • Led by a friendly and knowledgeable local guide
  • Made up of small, friendly groups
  • Short, on flat ground and in safe surroundings
  • Covid-secure
  • Suitable for a range of abilities, including people with additional access and participation needs and those who have done little or no exercise before
  • Developed in consultation with social prescribers, link workers and health care experts
  • Held at the same time and place each week

 

FIRST WALK STARTS THURSDAY 10th JUNE

Walks run weekly on Thursday afternoons. We meet at 12pm midday and enjoy a gentle paced walk with regular pauses to see the sights and make conversation. We stop for free tea/coffee in a local garden then complete our walk. The whole thing takes approx 1.5-2 hours but walking time itself is around 30 minutes.

 

Who can join
To join our 4-week walk programme you must be:

  • Over 18
  • Able to walk for 30 minutes (there are benches along the route and we will stop to look at things too)
  • Accompanied by your carer or support worker if you require one

Where:
The weekly sessions start from Stratford High Street (by Dane’s Yard Tower) where you will be met by your host from The Line and explore stretches of The Line art walk, followed by free refreshments to be enjoyed as a group.
