10-Week Dementia Support Course for Families Supporting a Loved One with Dementia
Starting 21 October, 10:30 to 12:30, this 10-week therapeutic course is designed for family members and close friends supporting someone living with dementia.
Groups are capped at 12 participants to maintain quality, sensitivity, and a supportive environment. Sessions run for roughly 1.5 hours each week with up to 30 minutes afterwards for questions and discussion, recognising the demands on those supporting someone with dementia.

Dementia Education & Emotional Support
Identity & Adapting
Communication & Behaviour
Transitions – including difficult decisions (e.g. driving, care options) and complex emotions such as living grief
Resilience & Sustainability – balancing care responsibilities with self-care for long-term well-being
Additional Support
Each participant receives a free 1-hour 1:1 session with the course facilitator if they attend all classes, a Dementia Specialist Nurse with nearly 20 years’ national and clinical expertise.
Cost: £12 per session, with a £12 deposit for the first session.

Course Access Criteria
Who it’s for: Family members or close friends supporting someone with dementia, including those awaiting memory assessment where dementia is likely.
Commitment: Weekly attendance over 10 weeks - we recognise that sometimes, caring responsibilities may make this difficult.
Exclusions: Not for people with dementia.
