Wandsworth Bereavement Service offers confidential, one-to-one bereavement counselling for residents of the Borough of Wandsworth. We support adults, children, and young people who are experiencing grief following the death of someone close to them.
Our experienced team of counsellors provides a safe and therapeutic environment where you can explore your feelings and work through the pain of loss. We value each individual's unique experience and respect cultural and personal differences in the grieving process.
- Adults: Counselling helps you reach a more peaceful place with your loss and gradually move forward in your life.
- Children & Young People: Specialised bereavement counselling helps children talk through their feelings using words and images, supporting them to process their grief in a way that feels safe and meaningful.
All sessions are strictly confidential and delivered by counsellors trained in bereavement support and supervised to BACP standards. We do our best to match you with a counsellor who meets your preferences and needs.
How it works:
- Contact us to arrange an initial assessment session (approx. 1 hour, during office hours).
- If counselling is agreed to be helpful, you will be allocated a counsellor for up to 12 weekly sessions (50 minutes each), at the same time each week.
- Sessions are held at our centre on Lavender Hill. For those with restricted mobility, home or remote counselling (including the initial assessment) can be offered, as our building requires access via steps.
Fees: We offer low-cost fees on a sliding scale based on salary. No fees are charged for anyone referred by their GP or for Children and Young Peoples Services.
To get started: Please phone the office to make an initial appointment. If the office staff are busy, leave a message and we will return your call as soon as possible.
Opening hours: Monday to Friday, 9am – 5pm.
We are an independent charity, proud to have served the Wandsworth community for over two decades.
