Suffolk Winter Warmth Project

Suffolk Winter Warmth is a county-wide initiative providing free warm items to households in need across Suffolk. If you or someone you know is struggling to keep warm this winter, this project offers practical support to help prevent ill health and hardship.

What we provide:

  • Hats, gloves, scarves
  • Blankets, duvets, baby sleep bags
  • Hot water bottles
  • LED bulbs and draughtproofing materials
  • Other essential warm items

Who can access support? Any household in Suffolk experiencing hardship and needing help to stay warm. Referrals are made by professional or voluntary sector organisations, including:

  • District and Borough Councils
  • Health Professionals
  • Citizens Advice
  • Community Groups
  • Suffolk Fire and Rescue Service
  • Rural Coffee Caravan

How to access: If you need support, please reach out to your local council, health professional, or community group. Organisations can refer residents via the Winter warmth referral page at East Suffolk Council.

Alongside this, there are over 250 voluntary warm spaces across Suffolk where residents can meet in a warm, safe environment at no charge. Find your nearest warm space on the Rural Coffee Caravan map. All Suffolk Libraries also act as warm, safe spaces this winter. For opening times, visit Suffolk Libraries.

Cost: All support and warm spaces are free of charge.

Want to help? If your community would like to set up its own Warm Space, guidance is available from Rural Coffee Caravan and Community Action Suffolk at this link.
