The EPP is a free six-week course for anyone living with one or more long term health conditions and is designed to help participants manage common challenges such as fatigue, pain, stress, and low mood, and empower them to take control of their health.
We aim to support our participants in becoming active self-managers by breaking their Symptom Cycle ( Poor Sleep, Fatigue, Physical Limitations, Shortness of Breath, Pain, Low mood/Depression, Stress, Difficult Emotions etc..) by using tools in their Self-Management Toolbox (Physical Activity, Problem-Solving, Medications, Using Your Mind, Decision-Making, Understanding Emotions, Action Planning, Communication, Breathing Techniques, Healthy Eating, Sleep, Working with Healthcare Professionals).
The training techniques we use are short talks, discussions, freethinking, role-modelling, role playing from the script, problem-solving and setting weekly action plans which are followed up on every week.
The course is held online via Zoom, but we are considering a face-to-face option for those who have that preference. Each session lasts 2.5hrs with two 10-minute breaks, but participants are free to get up and stretch their legs at any point. During the course they will also receive a pack, containing some documents and a book called ‘Living a Healthy Life with Long-Term Health Conditions’.
