Community Neighbourhood Link Worker service: Newham

Feeling lonely can happen to us all, but there are lots of ways that you can get involved with your local community and meet new friends.

The Community Link Worker service can offer Newham residents the following:

One To One Support:

Community Neighbourhood Link Workers support residents for up to six weeks on a one-to-one basis to help build confidence in seeking out and/or rediscovering hobbies and interests. Working together we will both agree an action plan that supports you to keep active, connected and healthy.

Information, Advice and Guidance:

Don’t know where to start? We can offer information, advice and guidance on how to access local activities and services. There are lots of free activities available in Newham including gardening, walking groups, chess, carers support groups, knitting, exercising, volunteering and so much more.

A member of the team is based in each Community Neighbourhood and has oversight of local social care and health events taking place in our libraries and community centers – so if you have any ideas of what’s missing we can help make it happen.

Support to complete forms for accessible transport:

Community Neighbourhood Link Workers can support with completing forms to apply for accessible transport. This service is only provided to residents who are housebound and who do not have any family or friends able to offer support.

The forms the team can support with include:

  • Taxicard and Dial-a-ride
  • Blue Badges
  • Freedom Pass
  • Carers Permits.

For all other form filling support, you can visit your local Library for more information.

Friendship Club:

Online social group for young adults with learning disabilities. Join for a chat, games and the chance to meet up with friends.
