Asha means hope. We provide support and promote social inclusion for asylum seekers and refugees in North Staffordshire. Since 2005, Asha has helped men, women, and children seek refuge from persecution, supporting over 900 people from 74 different countries each year.
Our services include:
- Help & Advice: Our centre is a welcoming place where you can access support and guidance tailored to your needs.
- Clothing: We offer a wide variety of clothing thanks to generous donations from the local community.
- Food: In partnership with FareShare, we distribute meals to those who need them most.
- Education: Free English lessons for asylum seekers, provided by retired teachers, volunteers, and Keele University language department.
- Immigration Support: In partnership with Refugee Action, we help you access Legal Aid, housing, and benefits.
- Destitution Support: Groceries, toiletries, clothes, help with transport, and valuable advice for those in crisis.
- Asylum Guidance: Vital information and support to help you understand the asylum system.
- Lunch Club: Free hot meals, shared between service users, volunteers, staff, and the local community.
- Women’s Club: Confidence-boosting sessions designed to increase self-esteem and raise aspirations.
- Men’s Club: Fun sessions promoting physical and mental wellbeing through sport and socialising.
- Children’s Club: Activities and events for children of newly arrived asylum seekers.
We welcome everyone for who they are, not for what they believe. Our staff are experienced in meeting the needs of the most vulnerable, excluded, and discriminated members of the community.
