Befriending

Age UK Berkshire offers a free befriending service to older people across Berkshire, providing companionship and friendly conversation. Befriending can take place in the comfort of your own home or over the phone. The service is designed for anyone who would like regular company and a chat. How it works: a Befriending Coordinator will visit you to understand your interests and needs, then carefully match you with a suitable volunteer. The frequency of visits or calls can be tailored to you (weekly, fortnightly, or monthly). The volunteers stay in touch and keep you informed about other Age UK Berkshire services and activities if you wish. Access: to start befriending, please contact Age UK Berkshire by phone or email. Cost: Free. Areas covered: Berkshire-wide telephone befriending; face-to-face befriending in Reading, Bracknell, and West Berkshire.
