Healthy Living Project

The Stay Well Stay Safe: Healthy Futures Project is a health and wellbeing project for disabled people living in Barking and Dagenham. The project aims to increase physical activity, empower participants with knowledge about healthy lifestyles, and teach participants to cook healthy meals. Activities include a Multisport Programme, Park Fit Programme, Fitness Buddies programme, and informal activities arranged by peer mentors and participants. Through partnerships with Barking and Dagenham E‑Learning and Barking & Dagenham College, participants can access training in healthy eating, money management, and digital skills. The Cookery School, delivered by the Cookery Tutor, teaches simple, healthy meals and how to buy ingredients on a budget. After completing the course, participants can attend a monthly Supper Club and even host Come Dine With Me‑style dinners. The project is open to disabled people of all ages living across the borough; non-disabled people can get involved by volunteering as Fitness Buddies, Health and Sports Mentors, or Digital Buddies. Referrals are welcome via a downloadable referral form and the timetable is available online. Areas covered: Barking and Dagenham. Cost information is not stated on the website.
