Stay steady and independent with our Falls Prevention service!
Age UK Redbridge, Barking & Havering offers a range of free strength and balance classes across all three boroughs, designed to help older people reduce their risk of falling and maintain their independence. Our face-to-face classes include chair-based exercise, Tai Chi, and Nordic Walking, and we also offer online chair-based exercise sessions for those who prefer to join from home.
What we offer:
- Face-to-face and online exercise classes to improve balance and strength
- Information sessions and literature on preventing falls
- Home hazard assessments to make your environment safer
- Training for professionals working with older people
- Opportunities to connect with others in a friendly, supportive environment
Falls are the biggest cause of accidents in the home for older people, but many can be prevented. By taking part in our classes and accessing our resources, you can reduce your risk and feel more confident in your daily life.
Who can join? Our service is open to older people living in Redbridge, Barking, and Havering. Spaces are limited, so please get in touch to check availability or to discuss your needs.
Cost: All classes and support are currently free of charge.
How to access: If you have had a fall, are concerned about falling, or would like to join a class, please contact Glenda Templeman at glenda.templeman@ageukrbh.org.uk or call 020 8220 6000. You can also complete a self-referral form online or by post.
What people say: "There is plenty of humour as we laugh at our mistakes and because the atmosphere is congenial, you don't feel embarrassed by doing so. The group is mixed gender. Why not come along and join us?"
