Newham Council’s Crisis and Resilience Fund provides short-term, urgent financial assistance to Newham residents experiencing hardship as a result of the cost of living. It is designed to help with essential household costs, such as buying food or paying for prepayment energy meters. The fund is discretionary and funded by the UK Government. Applications are handled by Our Newham; the quickest way to apply is online via the council’s online system, with an adviser available to help if online access is a barrier (phone support is offered at 020 8430 2041). Importantly, applying for this fund does not affect your other benefits. Eligibility criteria are set out on the page and a separate eligibility section explains who can get Hardship support. The fund itself does not specify a charge to applicants on the page (cost information is not stated).
