Derbyshire Dales Health Walks

Throughout the Derbyshire Dales the District Council train and support volunteer walk leaders to lead low level walks and strolls.

Each market Town - Ashbourne, Bakewell, Matlock and Wirksworth - has a very low level walk which walk for between 60 and 90 minutes but at a very steady pace perhaps covering up to 2 miles.

Then there are a raft of steady walks throughout the Derbyshire Dales which take about 90 minutes covering around 3 miles and just a couple which are further.

These friendly, supportive walks go at the pace of the walkers and go out year round except in extreme wet, cold or heat.

This living with dementia in the early stages are welcome on any walk - if you need a carer we offer specific walk/strolls which are fully accessible and are for both person and carer.

There is no need to book but you can contact sportsdevelopment@derbyshiredales.gov.uk if you would like reassurance it is for you.  Our website details all the walks and contains a quarterly guide which is always available.
