Goodlives Project

The Goodlives project

At Goodlives we are all about creating healthier futures for the people in our local community. We offer creative and flexible opportunities for those who need some extra support to move forward in life and improve their wellbeing. We aim to inspire breakthrough and positive change through therapeutic and nature-based activities as well as outdoor learning and education. Ultimately, we aim to relieve poverty and help people into sustainable and meaningful employment. Goodlives offers innovative and progressive learning experiences to any unemployed resident in Copeland from their site on the West Lakes Science Park near Whitehaven. With our support, learners have been able to address barriers such as long-term unemployment, social-isolation, poor physical and mental health, drug and alcohol dependency, and gambling addictions. We recognise the importance of signposting and partnership working in order to fully support progress.

The Goodlives Project:
 Inspires healthier choices
 Promotes positive energy
 Offers volunteering opportunities
 Allows learners to see a physical result of their efforts and hard work
 Recognises the value and benefits of outdoor hands-on learning

What do we offer?
The Goodlives Project is a pioneering nature-based fresh food growing project where learners grow produce from seed, receive horticulture training, and learn fresh food cooking skills. The incredible 1.6 acre site has been transformed from wasteland to a vibrant and prosperous learning centre. Learners are taught about ground preparation, bulb and seed planting and can nurture their own seedlings and plants right through to harvest. Effective and efficient site maintenance is an important aspect of horticulture so learners will undertake a wide variety of tasks including digging out, building, and painting fences, litter picking, grass cutting, weeding, and watering. Learners can also prepare and preserve their harvests in our new onsite kitchen facility at Goodlives. A fantastic opportunity to enjoy the benefits of hands-on, outdoor nature-based learning whilst doing your bit
for the environment.

We welcome everyone, without judgement, to get in touch today and take a step forward towards a brighter future. If you have any questions please don’t hesistate to contact our friendly team.
