Handybus provides low-cost, door-to-door transport for people in Newbury and Thatcham who have difficulty accessing public transport.
Our fleet of seven and fourteen-seater minibuses are specially modified for easy access, making them ideal for those with limited mobility, who can't manage regular buses, or who don't have a bus stop nearby. Whether you need to get to the shops, a day centre, a leisure venue, or even holiday accommodation, Handybus is here to help you stay connected and independent.
- Eligibility: If you have limited mobility, can't manage the buses, or lack a nearby bus service, you may be eligible. Please note that seats are limited and in high demand.
- Regular journeys: We run several scheduled trips each week. Booking in advance is preferable. Call the Handybus desk on 01635 37111 between 9am and 1pm to book and pay for your seat.
- Cost: £5 return per journey.
- Chairman Vehicle: Wheelchair-accessible car available for medical appointments or private hire. Book via 01635 49004 (10am–1pm, Mon–Fri). Please allow at least 2 weeks for new hires due to induction and checks.
- Excursions: We offer special trips to destinations such as the Cotswolds, Winchester Christmas Fair, and Bath. Costs to be confirmed. Call 01635 37111 to book.
