Compassionate Neighbours in Central and South West London

Compassionate Neighbours is a social movement led by Royal Trinity Hospice, designed to tackle loneliness and isolation for people in the later stages of life due to age or illness.

We train local volunteers to become Compassionate Neighbours and match them with people living nearby who would benefit from friendship and support. Through these connections, we hope to foster genuine, reciprocal relationships that enrich the lives of both participants, increase social connections, and spark positive ripple effects in the community.

  • 100% of people matched with a Compassionate Neighbour say the experience is positive.
  • 100% feel less lonely after six months.
  • Participants appreciate the opportunity to talk, be listened to, and feel a sense of connection and understanding.

Who can be referred?

  • Anyone living within our catchment area or registered with a GP in our catchment area.
  • People in the later stages of life due to age or illness.
  • Those experiencing loneliness and/or isolation.
