Our targeted information, advice and guidance (TIAG) service offers impartial careers advice to young people in Barnsley. We encourage, support, and help you get into education, employment, or training, tailored to your individual needs.
Who can access this service?
- Young people aged 13 to 24 with an education, health and care plan (EHCP)
- Young people aged 13 to 24 who are in care or care leavers
- Young people aged 16 to 19 who are not in education, employment or training (NEET)
- Young people aged 16 to 18 working with the youth offending service
If you do not fall into these categories but need support, please contact your school, academy, advanced learning centre, or further education provider, as they have a duty to provide careers guidance.
How we help:
- One-to-one careers guidance to help you plan your next steps
- Attendance at annual, care, or case-planning reviews
- Visits to learning providers
- Information on vacancies and open days
- Advice on what employers are looking for
- Help with job applications, CV writing, and interview techniques
- Opportunities for personal growth, including volunteering
- Referrals to specialist agencies for support with benefits, housing, and health issues
Every young person we work with has their own TIAG personal adviser. All advisers are fully qualified careers guidance specialists, dedicated to helping you explore your options and reach your goals.
