Women's Work (Derbyshire) Ltd

Women's Work Heart:  This is a project which supports vulnerable women and families by providing essential skills and helping to instill the confidence to truly flourish in life. Our approach is personalised, holistic and person-centred which aims to: boost mental and physical well-being; improve access to facilities and services; act as a springboard to a healthier and happier lifestyle. Service users are able to access a range of programmes, activities and interventions to support their areas of need including domestic violence and abuse, mental health and emotional wellbeing, substance misuse, sexual exploitation, facing economic hardship and crisis such as homelessness.

Counselling Service: We have a team of committed volunteer counsellors with varied experiences and training who work only with our service users. Following a full assessment of their needs, each woman is allocated a counsellor to help them work through their issues and manage the difficulties they are facing. Our counsellors use a variety of modalities, for example, Person Centred Therapy, Cognitive Behaviour Therapy or Psychodynamic Therapeutic approaches, according to the client need.

Our Turn Around Project: Targets and supports women in the Criminal Justice System to address offending behaviours and prevent further re-offending, offering an alternative to custody. We work in partnership with His Majesty's Prisons and Probation Service.  We are contracted by the Ministry of Justice to provide Women’s Services across Derby and Derbyshire to women in the Criminal Justice System. We provide a package of 1-1 support and group programmes, aimed to address criminogenic needs and to improve compliance with orders and licenses.

Link Work Contact Centre:  (NB: This element of the charity is a chargeable service). Our accredited family contact centre is a safe and neutral venue for children of separated families to meet with their non-resident parent or other family members. The most important people in the centre are the children. We aim to provide a warm and friendly atmosphere and have age appropriate toys, games and activities for them to use.

Service access criteria: There is a referral pathway to access our services, the Referral Form can be accessed and submitted via our website.
