Florence Arts Centre is a welcoming participatory arts centre located at the historic site of an old iron ore mine in Egremont, Cumbria. We invite you to explore, create, and connect through a wide range of activities, workshops, and events for all ages.
What we offer:
- Workshops & Artist Talks: Get creative and be inspired with regular workshops, artist demonstrations, and talks. Past events include 'Pastels Made Easy' and the Young Creatives Summer Programme.
- Family & Children’s Activities: Our Summer Playdays and Family Workshops are perfect for children aged 0-12, with drop-in creative sessions and bookable workshops every Thursday during the summer holidays.
- Craft Café: Join our free monthly craft café sessions to learn new skills like knitting or crochet, share your own, or simply enjoy a friendly, creative atmosphere. No booking required—just show up!
- Exhibitions & Gallery: Discover local art and exhibitions throughout the year.
- Paintmakers Shop: Browse unique artisan gifts, cards, and our own Paintmaker Artist Materials made with local pigments. Shop in person or online.
- Café: Relax in our dog-friendly café with Fair Trade coffee, Cumbrian Tea, local baking, sweet treats, snacks, and beers from the Ennerdale brewery.
- Wildlife Garden: Visit our wildlife garden, maintained by volunteers and students from Lakes College.
Opening Times:
- Friday: 11am - 4pm
- Saturday: 11am - 3pm
- Sunday: 11am - 3pm
- Open on Wednesday and Thursday for events and pre-booked courses.
Access: Pre-booked groups and activities are available at other times, including pottery, Make Space, Film Club, and evening events. Please check our website for the latest event schedule and booking information.
