Quetzal offers specialist counselling and emotional support for women who are recovering from the trauma of childhood sexual abuse and living in Leicester, Leicestershire, or Rutland.
Our services include:
- One-to-one counselling with highly trained therapists, available by self-referral. Sessions are held at the same day and time each week, and we ask that you commit to a full set of sessions for the best outcomes.
- EMDR Therapy and Single Session Therapy options for those seeking alternative approaches.
- Emotional Support Calls and Counsellor-Led Group Sessions to help you feel connected and supported while waiting for counselling or as an alternative.
- Awareness Raising and advocacy initiatives, including outreach programmes for young women (16-24), LGBTQ+ survivors, and local neighbourhoods.
Accessing our services:
- You do not need to have reported the abuse to the police to access support.
- Self-referral is available via our online form, or you can contact us directly by phone or email.
- If you prefer, you can download the referral form and email it to help@quetzal.org.uk.
- If you are able to pay privately, we can connect you with therapists in our Counsellor Directory.
Important: Due to high demand, the waiting time for counselling is currently around 12 months. You can access our other support services during this period.
Eligibility: Our service is for women living in Leicester, Leicestershire, or Rutland who have experienced childhood sexual abuse. If you do not meet these criteria, please see our list of useful numbers for alternative support.
Cost: Our core services are free for eligible women. Private counselling is available for a fee—please contact us for details.
