Ruils Volunteer Befriending Service

Volunteer Befriending Service

Our volunteer service recruits and trains volunteers to befriend clients on an on-going weekly basis. Our befriending can be in-person or over the phone, or as is often the case now, a combination of the two. Meet ups are generally for one hour a week, but can be longer depending on the volunteer's other commitments. The get togethers may involve a short walk, chatting at the client's home or visiting community groups or a place of interest together. We try to carefully match our volunteers and clients in terms of their interests and backgrounds and the service is open to adult clients who are disabled, have mental health challenges and/or are lonely and isolated. We currently operate a waiting list so may not have volunteers available immediately.

For more information about accessing the service, or volunteering to become a befriender, please contact Gary on email at garywilliams@ruils.co.uk. This is a referral based service, which requires the Ruils Adult Referral Form to be completed.
