Are you affected by dementia?
Are you passionate about utilising your experiences to influence meaningful and positive change? Join the ‘Inn Crowd’ Group to share your views, experiences and ideas to help make meaningful and positive changes locally and nationally.
Our aims are to Empower – Educate – Influence - Inspire
The group offers elements of peer support, companionship and free advice, signposting and referrals from your local Dementia Adviser as well as complimentary refreshments.
The group currently meets once monthly, on the third Friday of the month, from 11-12.30pm. This group is for people living with dementia and their carer’s. People are welcome to attend individually or may attend with support from a carer or loved one.
The 'Inn Crowd' Group is part of Alzheimer’s Society’s Dementia Voice. “Dementia Voice Local Groups are groups of people living with or affected by dementia who influence Alzheimer's Society's and other organisations' work. They do this by sharing their personal experiences of dementia, knowledge and skills to shape a wide range of projects and topics.
In 2025 the group were involved in:
Designing, organising and hosting the Forget-Me-Not Festival
Hosting stalls offering information, advice and peer support
Supporting with lived experience talks to professionals and members of the community
Reviewing local publications and resources for people affected by dementia
Shaping new local services for people affected by dementia
Supporting local sports clubs to become dementia friendly
“Involvement is my way of trying to make it right for others. It helps me to keep moving. When I’m asked back time and time again it makes me feel valued. It gives me a purpose to get out of bed in the morning".
"Being a part of this group has helped to change my life post-diagnosis. There is a point to my life, I can still make a difference. My intellect isn’t as damaged as I had thought".
