The Physical Health & Wellbeing Team at Barnsley Recovery College offers a welcoming, peer-led programme of physical activities designed to support people in Barnsley who may be struggling with their mental wellbeing.
Our team is made up of peer support workers and volunteers who have used physical activity to improve their own mental health, and now share their lived experience to help others. We believe that improving your physical health can have a positive effect on your mental wellbeing, boosting self-confidence, building relationships, and helping you enjoy life.
We offer a wide range of inclusive activities:

- Team sports such as football and netball
- Boxercise classes on the College’s lawn
- Gardening at Swanee Road Allotment
- Swimming (open water and lake swims for members)
