The Single Point of Access (SPA) team in Barnsley offers a comprehensive assessment for people referred to mental health services provided by South West Yorkshire Partnership NHS Foundation Trust.
Assessments can take place either on NHS premises or in the client’s own home, and are conducted by qualified mental health professionals. Clients are welcome to have a family member or friend present during their assessment.
- Quick access: Most clients receive an assessment within 14 days, and sooner if needed.
- Personalised care: You will receive a written and signed treatment plan after your assessment, which is also shared with your GP.
- Convenient appointments: The service aims to offer appointments at a time and place that suits you best.
- Supportive staff: You may meet administrators, community psychiatric nurses, receptionists, and support workers, all dedicated to helping you through the process.
- Further help: If your needs are more complex, you may be offered additional assessments or a brief intervention lasting up to six weeks. The team can also signpost you to other health or social care providers as needed.
