Support for carers

Care for the Carers is the leading charity supporting unpaid carers across East Sussex. If you look after a friend, family member, or neighbour who could not cope without your support, we are here to help you.

We offer free, confidential advice and support to carers of all ages, including young carers. Our services include:

  • Information and advice on your rights, benefits, and local resources.
  • Carer Money Matters – support with financial inclusion and advice on grants and benefits.
  • Carers Card – apply for an Emergency and Discount East Sussex Carers Card.
  • Breaks and respite – help to find ways to take a break from caring.
  • Support groups and activities – connect with other carers, join events, and access community centres in Eastbourne, Uckfield, Hastings, and Lewes.
  • Young carers support – dedicated help for carers under 18.
  • Professional referrals – support for professionals working with carers.
  • Online help and digital resources – access information and support from home.

We also offer volunteering opportunities, advocacy, and ways to get involved in building a carer-friendly community.

Our centres are open by appointment or for advertised activities. Carers can drop in for coffee and support at the Hastings centre on the 1st Thursday of the month, 10am–12pm.

We welcome carers from all backgrounds and can arrange interpreters for those whose first language is not English.

Contact us for advice, support, or to find out more about our services. You are not alone – we are here to help you every step of the way.
