Working with stakeholders we have developed an integrated programme which will improve the quality of life for the retired and retiring, enable local employers and voluntary organisations to benefit from the labour and skills of retired people and boost the local economy. This integrated programme, called Sense of Purpose, includes:
- Workshops that support retirees in their transition to retirement, helping them to discover or rediscover their ‘sense of purpose’.
- The workshops also include tailored advice and support from local providers such as independent financial advice, volunteering, social prescribers
- A matching service to link retiring and retired people to relevant services and opportunities, for example voluntary work or part time employment, community interest groups or financial advice
- Employer consultation to advise on responsible ‘offboarding’, to reduce the risk of knowledge and skills being lost from the business and consider recruiting retirees
We have recently secured funding to enable us to run the Sense or Purpose programme the Council area. this is thanks to Allerdale GDF Community Partnership and Cumbria Community Foundation through Cumberland Council’s UKSPF Levelling Up Fund.
To sustain and expand the reach of this valuable programme, we are actively seeking additional support from employers and our stakeholders. We invite interested entities to consider contributing to its funding. For enquiries and to discuss potential partnerships, please reach out to Catherine Eve at catherine.eve@cforlp.org.uk.
