We are currently looking for Volunteer Independent Visitors. An Independent Visitor is an adult volunteer who befriends a young person in care. Often, an IV is the only adult who is not paid to spend time with the young person, which often leads to long lasting friendships.
Activities can involve developing new skills or practising new hobbies, or outings such as bowling, cinema trips or a walk in the park.
Each volunteer is carefully matched with a child or young person in care in their local area who shares similar interests. This volunteer work is available across Cumbria.
Service access criteria:
Anyone can become a Volunteer Independent Visitor. So long as you can connect with young people and empathise with some of the struggles that young people face when they’re in care, you can apply.
